A state-of-the-art library for students
The J. Robin Warren Library is a vibrant learning space for students, graduates and the community. Formerly known as the UWA Medical and Dental Library, it was renamed in honour of Emeritus Professor John Robin Warren, AC, in 2017. Along with Professor Barry Marshall, Professor Warren was awarded a Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2005 for the duo’s discovery that Helicobacter pylori is the main cause of peptic or stomach ulcers and gastric cancer.
Located at UWA’s Health Campus, $7 million refurbishment in 2017 transformed the traditional space into an innovative, technology-rich facility with a greater emphasis on collaborative study and expanded e-learning capabilities to meet the changing work styles of today.
The library features group learning areas, study booths, a learning suite, training room and a student lounge with kitchen facilities. Student input was integral to the library’s new design, and users have commented on the impressive transformation, describing the library as light and airy, chic, modern, clean, stylish and an environment conducive to studying with lots of private spaces, better facilities and seats facing windows.
It is open from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Thursday and from 8am to 5pm on Friday during semester. UWA staff and currently enrolled students have 24-hour access to the ground and first floor with their campus card (via the side entrance after hours).
